With a few trims to pick from, the one that Car and Driver thinks is the best option is the XLT. This is because for its price, it is a “good starting point”. This trim comes standard with a 10-inch centerstack, as well as a wireless charging pad.
If you want some optional features, Car and Driver also suggests that you get the High Equipment group being that it comes with heated and power-adjustable front seats, 12.0-inch infotainment screen, making this bigger than the standard one, and a dual-zone automatic climate control that helps you, and your passenger remain comfortable.
The 2026 Ford Ranger can make 315 horsepower. The most powerful engine is the 2.7L V6 that produces 315 horsepower, but being that this one is optional, you will need to pay a bit more for it. The engine that comes standard is the 2.3L I4, which produces 270 horsepower. While this isn’t as strong, it will help keep the price down, especially on a trim like the XL. Being that this is a smaller engine, it does come with some great mileage.

This engine also comes with a max tow rating of 7,500-pounds, and has a higher max payload capacity at 1,788-pounds, making this a capable engine, with the larger V6 coming with a max payload capacity of 1,542-pounds.
