Yes, Ford is making a Maverick in 2026.
While Ford is making a Maverick for 2026, it doesn’t see much change from the 2025 models. This is because last year, the model brought a wide array of changes, including a new look that helps the model stand out from the rest of the trucks on the market. The only changes that you will be able to find are two new colors joining the lineup, these are Marsh Gray, and Orange Fury Metallic Tri-Coat.
The 2026 Ford Maverick XL will start at $29,840. Moving up a step, you have the XLT starting at $32,340, while the Lobo sits in the middle of the pack with a starting price of $37,625. Moving on to the upper two trims, the Lariat has a starting price of $39,785, with the Tremor coming in at $42,340.
Out of all of these trims, the one that Car and Driver thinks you should get is the XLT. This is because it is the “value-oriented model”. Some features that you can find on this trim are 17-inch aluminum wheels, cruise control, a power lock for the tailgate, and power exterior mirrors.
If you want the most of the trim, they suggest adding the Tow Package that will allow the truck to tow up to 4,000-pounds. This makes it an even better option than a base Maverick.
The Maverick gets 250 horsepower at most.
When looking at the engine lineup for the 2026 Maverick, there’s two options. The first is the more efficient hybrid 2.5L I4 option, coming with an EPA rating of 38 MPG combined. Being that this is the more efficient one, it doesn’t come with as much power as it gets 191 horsepower.
The base engine is the strongest of the two, this one being the 2.0L I4 EcoBoost, coming with the 250 horsepower that was mentioned before. While not as efficient, coming with an EPA rating of 25 MPG, it’s nothing to scoff at.
No matter the powertrain, both come with the same standard tow rating, as well as payload capacity. The max tow rating is 2,000-pounds, while the payload capacity is 1,500-pounds, making this a capable model for handymen who live in the city. However there is a tow package that ups the capacity. With a tow rating up to 4,000 lbs, the available 4K Tow Package lets you hitch up and split town.
