It does! A new 30th Anniversary Edition commemorates the occasion. Car and Driver reports that Ford uses distinctive color combos that change in appearance depending on the light. The Expedition underwent a much larger overhaul for 2025, leaving the remainder of the 2027 range with relatively small styling and equipment revisions.
Under the hood is a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 paired to a 10-speed automatic. Standard output is 400 ponies. Ford also offers a high-output version generating 440 horsepower with rear- or four-wheel drive. Independent rear suspension is used on every model.
For rougher terrain, the Tremor raises the Expedition's suspension and adds skid plates to protect its underside. It also adds exclusive 18-inch wheels with 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires. This off-road hardware is accompanied by Rock Crawl mode and hill-descent control. Trail Turn Assist can brake the inside rear wheel at low speeds, helping the Expedition negotiate tighter turns on loose surfaces.
Max towing capacity for the standard-length SUV is 9,600 pounds. The Expedition Max has a capacity of 9,000 pounds.
Rear-wheel drive produces the best fuel-economy figures of 16 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway, and a combined estimate of 19 mpg. Four-wheel-drive Expeditions get 15 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined.
Yes. Three-row seating is standard with a bench in the second row. Captain's chairs are optional and create a walkway between the seats. The power third row can be folded from controls in the passenger or cargo area.
Behind the third row, the standard Expedition has 22 cubic feet available, compared with 36 cubic feet in the Max. Fold the third row and capacity increases to 61 cubic feet in the regular model and 75 cubic feet in the Max. The second and third row both fold flat for a level cargo floor.
A wide 24-inch screen displays the gauges and other vehicle information across the dash. Ford pairs it with another touchscreen for the main infotainment controls. The system uses Google software and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Over-the-air updates provide a way to add or improve certain functions remotely. Park the SUV and the system can also be used for web browsing and entertainment.
